This map also adds multiple verticalities and also opportunities to punish those who take advantage of it. There are also many large structures for you to venture for loot, both inside and outside of those. And also sprinkled around are a few secrets for you to discover.
Under the development of Beenox, the map features a lot of options. It includes:
- 18 points of interest.

- A soccer stadium (currently being set up for a paintball tournament final).
Warzone 2.0 Season 4 Vondel launch modes: New Lockdown mode, Resurgence changes & more
Lockdown
As the name suggests, the new map, Vondel is under lockdown. This game mode will be available for a limited time only as it will feature the launch map rotation of Warzone 2.0 in Season 4. Point to be noted, this game mode has a release window on June 28.
Lockdown takes inspiration from the traditional Hardpoint game mode. You will need to capture and defend sites scattered around the map. While this showcases the same features as that of Hardpoint, due to the map’s openness, it will bring a bit more challenge.
Resurgence
Apart from introducing the Resurgence game mode to Vondel, there are two new features that are coming alongside it. These two features are:
- Dynamic Resurgence Timers: During combat, you suddenly find yourself a player short. Be it due to connectivity issues or simply rage quit, no need to worry anymore. The newly introduced Dynamic Timer system will automatically adjust should a team lose one (or maybe all of your allies) member. If in the future, they rejoin, the timer will revert back to the normal countdown.
- The Vengeance Icon: Your teammate just got wiped from the map. It is natural that you would want to know their location right? Guess what, the new Vengeance Icon will do just that for you. It will point you toward the general direction of the enemy’s whereabouts with an icon.
This does not showcase their actual location, but rather simply the direction they went towards. It will surely help you in your path of “Vengeance.” However, there is one thing to note, the Vengeance Icon lasts as long as your squadmates’ resurgence timer. For when they respawn, the icon will be wiped off the map.
Warzone 2.0 Season 4 DMZ changes
With the Warzone 2.0 Season 4 update, DMZ is coming to Vondel. Apart from this addition, there are many more exciting changes set to improve the quality of life for players. The many features consist of the new TAV, Dynamic Fog, and more.
Forward Operating Base
the new Forward Operating base (FOB) is set to be a more centralized hub for all your DMZ works. Be it choosing missions, or simply upgrading your Operators, this new many system is here to make the Operator’s life easier. Apart from that, all Operator Upgrades act as passive allowing smooth and efficient progress across all DMZ aspects. Here is everything that is new to the FOB.
- Stash: Wallet and Key Stash size increase.
- Weapons Locker: Insured and contraband armaments and upgrades.
- Bounty Board: For Exfil, Bartering recipes, and Buy Station discounts.
- Communications Station: Allowing Urgent Mission access.
Additionally, you can unlock Urgent Missions when at the FOB. Also, there are a new type of Faction missions that allow you to farm Faction Reputations, and unlock Story Missions faster. These Urgent Missions grant you Reputation across all Factions allowing many rewards. Some of these are unlocking insured slots, the out-of-game Wallet, as well as expanding DMZ elements like the Contraband Stash, Key Stash, and Wallet Capacity.
Phalanx: The new DMZ Faction
The Warzone 2.0 Season 4 update is huge for DMZ. With this patch, a new clandestine faction known as Phalanx that is [[REDACTED]] will be added to the title. A little bit of information will be released as a special Infinity Ward DMZ Community Update on June 9. And to quote the developers,
However, do not expect the new Boss [[REDACTED]], a vehicular [[REDACTED]], and Weapon Case Rewards such as [[REDACTED]] to be declassified until the start of Season 04.
Dynamic Fog
One of the most immersive factors of this update is the addition of the Dynamic Fog. Mostly pertaining towards DMZ, the fog will set in at random times during other game modes also at Vondel. While the usual weather of Vondel remains sunny in nature, some certain inclement weather conditions might cause fog to set in.
The Tactical Amphibious Vehicle (TAV)
As mentioned earlier, Vondel mostly comprises short roads and canals. And as the name suggests, this four-passenger vehicle can conquer both land and water. Making it the best ride you could hope for in Vondel. While usable in other maps as well, the best use of TAV will still remain to traverse Vondel.
Favorite Supply Box
A counterpart of the previous Warzone’s “Personal Supply Box,” this time around it releases as Favorite Supply Box. The whole purpose of the box is to drop your favorite weaponry upon opening it. Once you mark one of your Warzone loadouts as a favorite, opening the box will drop only those weapons. The Favorite Supply Box will drop the following contents:
- Primary and Secondary weapons from your favorite loadout.
- Ammo.
- One Armor Plate.
New Field Upgrade: Reinforcement Flare
As the name suggests, this field upgrade can change the very course of a Battle Royale match. Its whole purpose is to reinforce your team via squadmate redeployment. Upon use, a flare will shoot high up in the sky, exposing your position to the enemy.
It works as a go-to buy station where instead of choosing, a random squadmate will redeploy. The field upgrade is so vital that it is advisable to use it in the late game for peak advantage.
New Public Event: High Stakes
While the normal public events for other game modes remain at large, Vondel will launch with its very own public event, High Stakes. When the event starts, a plethora of crates will fall all over the map.
Capturing these crates will grant you double XP for both Weapons and Player. And to top it off, this adds on to your own XP bonuses. This means, if you enter the game with Double XP tokens, capturing these will grant you quadruple XP. And it lasts till the end of the match.
Taxicabs on Canals
Like the trains in Al Mazrah, Vondel will have its very own automated transportation services. The map being submerged in many places, connected by Canals, the developers thought of a unique route.
While roaming around Vondel, you will find Taxicabs situated in various canals. This is inclusion as part of the Assault on Vondel Event. They are set to be launched once Stage I of the Assault on Vondel Event subsides. While you cannot control the direction of these boats, you surely can speed them up in times of haste.
Al Mazrah receives topographical changes
While the sandstorm in Al Mazrah subsides, the topographical damage is left behind downtown. In addition to sand dunes up the side of the TV tower, the Embassy, and the “Highrise” building, there are many more sand banks to climb around the map.
While more details will be handed out by the developers next week, expect some heavy damage around the map. These damaged structures left in the aftermath of the sandstorm allows for new angles of maneuverability and strategy.
Vondel Battle Royale and Gulag
While Vondel will be available to play on launch, the traditional Battle Royale mode does not come to the map before mid-season. This means, for those yearning to experience Battle Royale in Vondel, you have to wait till Season 4 Reloaded.
Apart from that, a new subterranean Gulag is coming to Vondel with the mid-season update. Followed by the return of the Occupation Scan Public Event and a new quest for [[REDACTED]] involving [[REDACTED]].
With all these changes that are set to come, it is clear enough to say that Warzone 2.0 Season 4 will be a historic update. It will not only change various old aspects, but it will also add new flavor to the long-running franchise. And if you re not hyped for anything else, the new Gulag will surely pique your interest.
