Ab de Villiers takes an amazing relay catch for Middlesex to dismiss Essex batsman in the opening match of T20 Blast at Lord’s

During the opening match of the second season of the T20 Blast, the swashbuckling South African legend AB de Villiers took an amazing relay catch for his team Middlesex to dismiss the Essex batsman Lawrence at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground on Thursday.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Middlesex got to a great start claiming three wickets in the opening ten overs itself. To claim the fourth wicket, de Villiers came up with brilliant reflexes to dismiss the incoming batsman Lawrence off a Nathan Sowter ball.

After taking the catch, his body momentum was carrying him beyond the boundary ropes, but he smartly relayed the ball towards the approaching fielder- George Scott to nail an amazing display of athleticism and smart catching.

AB de Villiers receives ‘Man of the Match’ award

Essex has posted a total of 164/6 in their alloted quota of 20 overs. In reply, Middlesex chased down the target with consummate ease with three overs to spare, courtesy as brilliant knock of 88 off 43 deliveries by the Proteas legend. He smashed the Essex bowlers black and blue as he struck a total of five fours and six mammoth sixes in his team’s 7-wicket victory.

de Villiers has been in the news off late for all the wrong  reasons. This all-round performance from the 35-year-old would surely give him a lot of solace and confidence.
