WATCH: Alex Sandro Tackles Cristiano Ronaldo With The Debacle Summing Up Ronaldo’s Stinker Against Porto

The Juventus top scorer was abysmal in the Champions League on Wednesday

Up against Porto for their round of 16 Champions League fixture, Juventus were widely touted to sweep the affair with ease. Despite travelling to Porto for the first round of the showdown, many envisaged the Serie A powerhouse to breeze their way through to a pulsating win.

Such was the gulf in quality between the two that few gave Porto a chance of salvaging anything from the tie at all. However, the home side not only managed to stave off its naysayers by not succumbing to a defeat but pulled off the result of the week as it thumped Juventus 2-1.

The tone for Juventus’ debacle for set inside only the opening 61 seconds as a Bentacur howler ended up gifting Porto a goal inside the first opening minutes. They went onto double their lead early into the second half 2-0 thanks to Moussa Marega’s goal.

While Juventus did manage to pull one back through Federico Chiesa, who is on loan at Juventus from Fiorentina, the shock defeat sent ripples across the marquee tournament. And the side’s horrendous performance was largely down to Cristiano Ronaldo’s sordid showing with the 36 year old enduring one of his worst displays in Juventus colors.

Ronaldo Ends Up With A Sorry Performance

Ronaldo’s torrid showing was typified in a bemusing incident, one which saw him collide straight into counterpart Alex Sandro as he tried to ease his towards Porto’s goal. The moment was followed up by a string of gaffes by Ronaldo as he failed to impact the fixture in any way.

Ronaldo was left seething at the tailend of the affair as the referee refused to entertain a penalty call by the Serie A player. Ronaldo went down under a challenge from Zaidu Sanusi in the fourth minute of added time but referee Carlos del Cerro Grande played on, much to the disbelief of most Juventus players.
