WATCH: Alexis Sanchez scores an absolute screamer against FC Koln in the Europa League
It took some time, but the match between Arsenal and FC Koln got underway with just an hour’s delay. FC Koln’s fans had taken over North London yesterday, parading through the streets and creating a ruckus outside the Emirates for being allotted just 3000 seats.
Koln fans wanted more and they made it a point that Arsenal gave it to them. They later ended up buying tickets from the Arsenal supporters and also bought a few Arsenal shirts in order to get in to the home stands.
And with all this happenning, you could sense that this could be a magical night for FC Koln and their fans, and that is exactly how the initial few minutes panned out to be.
Ospina’s huge blunder led to Cordoba scoring from 40 yards out and the Koln fans were sent into frenzy.
Arsenal were up against it and needed something special from their players in order to make a comeback, and that is exactly what transpired in the second half.
A brilliant strike from Kolasinic brought back Arsenal on level terms and then a moment of sheer brilliance from Alexis Sanchez sent Arsenal into the lead.
Alexis, who was looking to breakfree all through the game, cut in from the left, warded off a couple of defenders and unleashed a curler into the top right hand corner.
Arsenal will now be up against it at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, as they look forward to putting their Premier League campaign back on track.
