After a stunning early goal from Antonio Valencia, Manchester United seemed poised to score a bucket full of goals at Old Trafford tonight.
But the game became a tight affair, as Everton held their own for more than 70 minutes. A flurry of late goals however proved to be too much for Everton, as they eventually succumbed to a 4-0 away loss.
Wayne Rooney was the main attraction today, as he was making his first return to Old Trafford since he left to join Everton this summer. Rooney is the all-time goal scorer to Manchester United, and had a stellar career with the Red Devils.

But he failed to make much of an impact, as Jose Mourinho’s team ran riot especially in the last 15 minutes of the game.
With United already leading 3-0, Anthony Martial went on a run in which he dribbled past three Everton defenders to win a penalty for his side.
Martial jinxed his way past two, before he side stepped another before the ball was obstructed by the defender’s hand.
Martial then went on to take the penalty, and coolly slotted in the fourth goal.
