WATCH: Anushka Sharma Shell-Shocked After Virat Kohli's Wicket Today In WTC Final 2023 Day 5

Actor-producer Anushka Sharma, wife of former India captain Virat Kohli, was left shell-shocked after her husband lost his wicket on the fifth day of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2021-2023 final against Australia at Kennington Oval. While a cautious start had witnessed India not losing a wicket in the first six overs of the day, Kohli was the first Indian batter to be dismissed on a Sunday morning.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 47th over when Kohli aimed to play an expensive drive but ended up paying the expense for it. Falling for a full and wide delivery, Kohli edged the ball towards the right of Australia vice-captain Steven Smith at second slip. Not the easiest of catches by any means, but Smith proved yet again as to why he is such a highly-rated catcher especially in the slip cordon.

Kohli, meanwhile, brought back times of an elongated personal lean patch by getting out in such a manner. With the cover drive having become reason for his demise a plethora of times during his career, the right-handed batter could’ve easily let that ball go.

Opening the bowling with captain Pat Cummins, Australia fast bowler Scott Boland picked his second wicket of the innings in the form of Kohli in what was his fourth over of the day.

Accompanying Virat on this tour, Anushka has been spotted several times in the stands during the course of this final. Having cheered for him until this point, she couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw the sight of Kohli playing a false shot in a tense situation.

“Ban Anushka Sharma From Stadium” – Angry Indians Fans On Twitter

Frustrated Indian fans on social media platform Twitter didn’t take a lot of time before starting to find faults with Anushka’s presence at the venue. Soon after Virat walked back to the dressing room, fans posted tweets in unison seeking a ban for Anushka from entering cricket stadiums around the world.

It is worth of a mention that it is not for the first time when fans have been completely unfair and unreasonable in blaming Anushka for either Kohli or India’s failure. As much as Kohli’s dismissal hurt India’s chances of registering the highest successful run-chase in the history of Test cricket on Day 5, there is no justification at all for the below mentioned tweets.

Having taken cognizance of such unruly behaviour on the part of fans in the past as well, a perplexed Virat had once revealed how Anushka was hurt after being blamed for his below par performance during ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
