Fernando Verdasco lashes out at ball-boy during the semifinal of Shenzhen Open in China against Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka.
After defeating Andy Murray in the quarterfinal of the Shenzhen Open, Fernando Verdasco stirred controversy during the semifinal. The Spanish tennis veteran was up against Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan.
The controversial incident took place during the second set of the semifinal clash, where Verdasco was trailing 2-4.
The Spanish player outraged at a ball-boy, who was seemingly slow at bringing him the towel. Verdasco wildly gestured at the ball-boy, asking him to hurry up. The player was given a warning by the umpire on the outburst and was criticised by the social media for his actions.

In the Hamburg Open earlier this year, Verdasco indulged in another controversy when he threw a towel in front of a volunteer in frustration.
Nishioka stunned Verdasco 1-6, 6-3, 7-6 to proceed to the final of the Shenzhen Open, where he is currently playing Pierre-Hugues Herbert of France.
The Japanese player is unseeded in the tournament, and had previously lost to Fernando Verdasco in the French Open earlier this year. He made a strong comeback after tamely surrendering the first set of the match.
Verdasco’s behavior with the ball-boy was criticised on social media. Here are some of the reactions from the viewers:
Guys like Verdasco make me feel sick. Being rude to a ball boy reveals everything I need to know about him #verdasco

That’s terrible behaviour from Verdasco. No need to do that. https://t.co/LMXe5lXIUj

I just hope Verdasco gets the same treatment one day. Looser first category 👎🏻😡 Attitude is everything but this guy doesn’t get iT! https://t.co/tbZvj5UmKc

Vile behaviour from Verdasco. Also, I disagree that this should even be a ball boy/girl’s job. Imagine having a sweat-saturated towel thrown at you every minute for 2 hours. 😷 Time for change. #tennis https://t.co/h4KuDYjdZO

To me, the entire ballperson/servant culture of tennis is absurd. Imagine having 12-year-olds bring you water and hold umbrellas over your head and being normal with that

This should be a code violation.
