WATCH: Hamilton calls Verstappen a dickhead
The Bahrain Grand Prix was full of these little incidents that made it one of the most exciting races of recent times. Sebastian Vettel was ultimately able to hold off the challenge from a spirited Bottas, who on a medium tyre was able to execute his 1 pit stp strategy to perfection.
Vettel though was on a soft tyre and hence ran the risk of losing grip if he opted for a one stop strategy.
Raikkonen crashing out of the race due to the pit lane mechanic issue meant that Ferrari decided to go with ‘Plan B’ and thus Vettel had to take care of his tyres and keep Bottas off his back.
But the race had lit up from the start, with Vertstappen going wheel to wheel with Hamilton on the 2nd lap, ultimately ending the race with a puncture.
Stewards though ruled the incident as a normal ‘racing incident’ .
The wheel-to-wheel incident was on display in the cool down room when the drivers entered it and Hamilton was heard saying ‘Verstappen is a d**khead*’.
Check out the video:
Red Bull had a torrid time in Bahrain, as both their cars had to bow out during the initial phase of the race, Verstappen because of the tussle with Hamilton and Ricciardo due to an apparent electric failure.
Ferrari could have had a 1-2 on the podium but for Raikkonen’s incident with the mechanic in the pit lane.
Hamilton would be happy and content to finish on the podium after having started the race from 9th place on the grid.
This season promises to be interesting
