While India lost Rahane, Kohli and Pandey in quick succession early on, the likes of Jadhav and Pandya provided superb support to Chennai’s adopted son, MS Dhoni.
The former CSK captain was in great touch, as he notched up his hundredth international half century. Dhoni controlled the entire innings as the legendary batsman guided India to a more than respectable 281.

In response, the Aussies could not get going as India kept a tight grip over the proceedings. Steve Smith was the big wicket for India, and it took a piece of brilliance from Jasprit Bumrah to dismiss the Australian skipper.
Bumrah had to run backwards to grab hold on to the catch, as the lanky bowler managed to keep hold of the ball.
Kohli’s delight was tumultuous, as he knew how important Smith was to the Australian team. Later on, Chahal and Yadav were superb as they strangled the Aussies on a slow and turning Chepauk pitch.
Here is the catch from Bumrah!
