WATCH: Jofra Archer emulates Steve Smith's batting technique during practice at Headingley

Archer emulates Steve Smith’s batting technique: The English fast bowler was seen copying Australian batsman’s stance.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer was recently seen emulating Australia batsman Steve Smith’s batting technique while batting in the nets ahead of the third 2019 Ashes Test at Headingley. Batting against both throwdowns and spinners, Archer did justice to his biggest opponent’s stance in the last match.

The video was uploaded on the official Twitter account of cricket.com.au early in the morning and has gone viral since then. The 47-second video sees Archer both leaving and defending balls like Smith. Talking about Smith’s leaves, a hilarious compilation of the same had done the rounds across social media platforms.

The duo shared an intriguing rivalry in the last Test at Lord’s when Archer bowled a testing spell against Smith. It was during the spell that Archer had hit Smith in the neck which eventually ruled him out of this Test.

The third Test of the series will begin from today. With England 0-1 down in the series, they would be looking to turn things around in this match. Smith’s absence is likely to bolster their chances of drawing level in the series.

As far as Australia are concerned, another win for them will secure the series for them. All-rounder Marnus Labuschagne is all set to replace Smith for this Test.
