During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, Australia top-order batsman Usman Khawaja was seen grabbing a stunner at gully to dismiss India captain Virat Kohli cheaply.
The action unfolded on the third delivery of the 11th over when Kohli’s attempt to play a big drive outside the off stump saw him edging a Pat Cummins delivery between third slip and gully.
To Kohli and everyone else’s surprise, Khawaja jumped to his left from gully only to get hold of a one-handed piece of beauty. In which was Cummins’ first wicket, it saw the third Indian batsman departing for a meagre score.
While there was a hype around Kohli dominating in the Test series against Australia, the first instance of which has said of otherwise. The Indian captain ended up scoring 3 (16).
In which came as a fresh change for India and Kohli, he won the toss earlier, deciding to bat first. India took the risk-involving call of playing limited-overs vice-captain and opening batsman Rohit Sharma in place of Hanuma Vihari, who is yet to receive a chance at the highest level after scoring his maiden half-century in his debut match against England at The Oval.
