WATCH: Lewis Hamilton waves towards Charles Leclerc while overtaking him at Bahrain GP, showing what a true gentleman he is

Lewis Hamilton won the Bahrain GP in circumstances that he too wouldn’t have wanted. Charles Leclerc almost had the perfect weekend. He had won all the sessions coming into raceday and was in the lead going into the final few laps of the race.

Having secured his first pole position ever, Leclerc seemed on course for his first ever GP win, when he reported a loss of power and an apparent problem with the Ferrari engine.

The young Ferrari driver was left helpless and was eventually surpassed by Lewis Hamilton. In the post race interview, the Brit was sympathetic towards Charles Leclerc and wanted him to know that he had a lot of race victories within him.

Hamilton also made it a point to first console Charles Leclerc before going onto celebrate the victory with his team.

Now, in a video that has surfaced, one can see Lewis Hamilton waving towards Charles Leclerc while overtaking him, acknowledging his effort in the race and gesturing that what was happening to him wasn’t quite fair.

Charles Leclerc, Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari will need to re-group and figure things out before the Shanghai GP, as Ferrari currently don’t have many things going for them. Vettel succumbed to pressure once more today, spinning whilst in the middle of battle with Lewis Hamilton.

While Leclerc did not do much wrong, Ferrari will need to look into what caused the lack of power and how they could sort out their reliability issues.

Mercedes on the other hand have had a strong start to the 2019 F1 season, winning the first two grand prix and keeping Ferrari at bay. Pace in Bahrain would certainly need to be addressed, as Mercedes lost out on their advantage from Australia in the desert.

The 1000th F1 GP promises to be an exciting one.
