The game between Young Boys and River Plate is considered as the biggest game in Argentina followed by Newell Young Boys and Rosaria who also have so much hate in between them besides Buenos Aires.

Messi grew up and played for six years at Newell Young Boys, before getting himself transferred to FC Barcelona at the age of 14. He has been supporting that club since his young days.

According to the Argentine journalist Juan Arago, the fan called her “pecho frio” which translates to “passionless”

Rejecting to sign the shirt who has represented his own town and hating the rivals is natural. Having played more than fourteen years of football at the highest level, it is totally absurd to label him in that fashion.

In the above picture, we can see Messi wearing the Newell Young Boys shirt. Looks like his son Thiago Messi is also supporting the Argentine club from Spain.

Some years ago, club president Cristian D’Amico stated that Messi would one day come back to Newell Young Boys as a player.

“I am convinced, like many of my peers, that we can make history as a club if we get the best player in the world in a Newell’s shirt. I think we’re going to get the pleasure of Messi wearing the shirt.”

“Imagine a game with Messi in the Coloso [Estadio Marcelo Bielsa], with the press around the world. The sponsors who would come… that would make a difference economically, apart from the sentimental value, and could make a big difference to clean up the debts.”

Above is the registration card of Lionel Messi, representing Newell young Boys several years ago.

Messi said that he would never leave Barcelona for any other club than Newell Young Boys in an interview before.

The Argentine finished as top scorer in Europe, but that was even able to guarantee him top three place in the Ballon d’Or. Having won it five times, Messi is still hungry to bag for record sixth time.

His battle with Cristiano Ronaldo has been fun to watch, to say the least over the last decade. Both of them have stood out for their sides when they needed them the most.
