Just a few days prior, Brazilian legend Pele had hailed Lionel Messi as the most complete player in the world. The Argentine ace would go on to prove why such words were used to describe him in the second half of the match.

Lionel Messi was swarmed by a number of players. 8 to be exact. However, he managed to keep the ball to himself, displaying unrivalled balance, agility and presence of mind. The closest anyone got was Lucas Torreira, who dropped him to the floor.

However, even falling did not stop him from losing possession. Instead, he quickly recovered to dribble past 3 more players. No matter who you think of as the best player in the world, you can help but have your jaw dropped to the floor after this individual brilliance.

Lionel Messi would end the play with a one-two with Sergio Aguero. Unfortunately, he ended up playing the ball wide. Had it gone in; it would have been one of the greatest build-up to a goal ever. Messi made up for the miss by scoring a 92nd minute penalty to score the equaliser and maintain Argentina’s unbeaten run since Copa America.
