Watch: Liverpool GoalKeeper Adrian injured by a fan, may miss Southampton match. The injury happened after the UEFA Super Cup match against Chelsea.
Liverpool refused to dip their hands in the Transfer market this season. They made three purchases but two of them were teenagers who have been marked for the future and are not in the immediate plans of the club. The third signing, former West Ham shot stopper Adrian, was a necessity after regular back up Simon Mignolet left the club in search for more game time.

With Alison Becker becoming a star glovesman, Mignolet had assumed that he may not get a chance to play once again and packed his bags towards Club Brugge. However, in a little over last fortnight since his departure, Liverpool have run through both Alison and Adrian.
Alison suffered a calf injury in their opening match against Norwich City. He was replaced by Adrian, who received his debut earlier than anyone had expected.
Adrian seemed a little nervy in the game against the Canaries. However, he raised his game in their next showing against Chelsea and starred in their UEFA Super Cup Victory. Unfortunately though, like their Premier League opener, the victory has been dampened once again with an injury and this time it is Adrian.
Liverpool Boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Adrian is suffering from a swollen ankle after being injured by a fan, who ran on the pitch to join in the celebrations.
“A supporter slipped and kicked his ankle. Yesterday it was swollen and today I spoke to him and he said it’s much better, but we have to see,” Klopp said.

It is highly unlikely that he will play in the game against Southampton. Which means that Liverpool will have to call upon 35-year old Andy Lonergan. He will be their third keeper this season. The keeper was bought in as Alisson’s back up last season and spend the entire campaign on loan at Rochdale.
