When the English batsmen walked out to bat today morning, they would have been weary of those glaring cracks on the WACA track, one’s that were ready to spit venom in the days to come.

Already being 259 runs ahead, the Australian seamers were ready to unleash those 145 kmph bouncers and yorkers at the already bruised English batsmen, who had their task cut out for themselves.

Mitchell Starc was always going to be the lynchpin of the Australian attack, as at his pace, a ball even kissing the crack would have posed a huge threat to the batsmen.

And that is exactly what happened to James Vince, who was enjoying a good little spell at the crease, timing the ball to perfection and looking at ease, despite some very probing lines from the Australian pacemen.

Starc had decided to come round the wicket, in a bid to angle the ball in and then take it away from the batsman, and he succeeded in it big time, getting the ball to hit the crack, and making it impossible for Vince to cover the line of the delivery.

Australia currently have England on the leash, and the English middle order will now have to bat out of their skins in order to even make Australia bat a second time in the test. Joe Root would be hoping that the middle order can save England from the embarrassment of losing the game by an innings by keeping the Australians at bay for as long as possible.
