MS Dhoni slams Khaleel Ahmed at Adelaide

MS Dhoni slams Khaleel Ahmed at Adelaide: The Indian wicket-keeper batsman was seen lashing out at the Indian fast bowler.

During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni was seen use cuss words at India fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed after he walked on the pitch.

Ahmed, who played the first match for India at Sydney, wasn’t included for yesterday’s match as another fast bowler Mohammad Siraj was handed an ODI debut.

Dhoni came in to bat at No. 5 at a crucial juncture when the Indian team required 139 runs from 116 balls. Dhoni and India captain Virat Kohli shared an 82-run partnership for the fourth wicket but the latter’s dismissal had put the onus on Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik.

While the Indian batsmen did their best to counter the opposition bowlers, they also had to face another opposition in Adelaide’s hot weather. Given the temperature for the day, it was continually hampering Dhoni concentrate in the middle. The fact that he had kept wickets for 50 overs during the day further didn’t help his case.

“It was a really tough day. My pants are white with the sweat, the salts coming out. MS was tired as well, fielding for 50 overs and batting as well, it was tough. So a good day to rest and travel and recover and regroup for the MCG,” Kohli was quoted as saying on the conditions during the post-match presentation ceremony.

In a bid to recover, Dhoni was once seen lying down on the ground. The weather had also forced the players to take multiple drinks break during the match.

In one of the breaks during the business end of the match, Ahmed had come to the ground to offer drinks to the Indian batsmen. Not realizing that he walked on the pitch, Ahmed was at the receiving end of some harsh words from Dhoni.

Because Ahmed was wearing spikes, him walking on the pitch had it in it to deteriorate its condition, something which wouldn’t have aided the Indian batsmen. It was the reason why Dhoni was seen scolding the young cricketer.
