MS Dhoni’s call for a review: It was another successful DRS call from MS Dhoni which gave India their first wicket against Pakistan.

During the third match of the Super Four stage of the ongoing Asia Cup between India and Pakistan at Dubai, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s call for a review yielded success for India.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma had introduced Yuzvendra Chahal into the attack as the first change bowler in the eight over. It happened on the last delivery of the eight over when Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq’s attempt to play the ball across the line saw him missing the ball altogether.

The ball ended up hitting him on his pads in front of the stumps which invited a massive appeal from the Indian fielders. After umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge ruled the decision in the batsman’s favor, Dhoni immediately signaled to Sharma to go for the review.

Replays confirmed that the ball would have gone on to hit the stumps which forced the umpire to change his decision. It was yet another case of Dhoni calling rightly for the DRS, giving India the required edge in the match.

India’s new ball bowlers in Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled tight lines and lengths, giving no opportunity to the opposition batsmen to dictate terms.

Earlier Pakistani captain Sarfraz Ahmed had won the toss and chose to bat, a decision which ended up being criticized by various cricket experts. Pakistan had made two changes to their playing eleven from the match against Afghanistan, bringing in Shadab Khan and Mohammad Amir in place of Haris Sohail and Usman Khan.

On the other hand, India fielded the same playing eleven which had earned them a 7-wicket victory against Bangladesh on Friday.
