WATCH: MS Dhoni’s short run vs Australia at Adelaide
MS Dhoni’s short run vs Australia: The Indian wicket-keeper batsman was seen running a short run during the tense chase against Australia.
During the second ODI of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Adelaide, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni ran a short run during his unbeaten 69th half-century.
Surprisingly, neither the umpires nor any player of the opposition team noticed the same and hence there wasn’t any objection on it.
It happened on the last ball of the 45th over when Dhoni ran a single off Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon towards the long-on region. Just as he reached the non-striker’s end, Dhoni neither grounded his bat nor crossed the crease with his feet.

The fact that there was no hurry about the proceedings from anyone must have made Dhoni take things lightly. Since there was no intention of him going for the second run, it is highly unlikely that he did it on purpose or to gain any undue advantage in the middle.
Dhoni was instrumental with his approach yesterday. The 37-year old cricketer ended up scoring 55* (54) with the help of a couple of sixes. Dhoni played a vital role in sharing an unbeaten match-winning 57-run stand for the fifth wicket alongside Dinesh Karthik.
Although his half-century in the Sydney ODI was highly criticized, this innings was an apt reply to all his critics including former cricketers and fans. Having scored a couple of half-centuries in as many matches is a positive sign for Dhoni himself, who is playing any form of cricket after nearly two and a half months.

I was thinking along the lines of if the Aussies had been more alert maybe they could have ran him out. Then dhoni isn’t there to smash the winning runs in the end. That was more my though

My point is more that it was lazy from the Aussies
