Watch: Neymar scores a stunning overhead kick goal in the PSG vs Strasbourg match today after being abused by his own fans all game long.

Neymar joined PSG for record sums two years back. He has since however, failed to live to the billing of being the most expensive footballer of the world. He has made the news more for his off-field issues than the ones on it.

The fans at the French Capital have grown weary of the Brazilian. Neymar did himself no favors by attempting to engineer a move back to Barcelona all summer long. The move would eventually fail. This means that Neymar’s future now lies with the Parisian club; well at least till January next year.

Neymar played for PSG for the first time this season and the fans let them know their opinion of him immediately. They booed voraciously as his name was announced on the stadium’s loudspeaker before the game and resorted to more abuse during the game.

Neymar abused all match long

Fans chanted that the striker was a “son of a b**ch” and raised a banner saying that he should be sold as a prostitute at Parc des Princes. They also unfurled a banner that told the Brazilian’s dad ‘sell your son in Vila Mimosa’; an area in Rio de Janeiro that’s renowned for prostitution.

Neymar didn’t let the abuses get to him though as he came to his side’s rescue and does what he does best; score goals.

With the scores 0-0 by the end of 90 minutes, PSG were getting desperate to find the nets. All they had were 4 minutes of extra time. Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Neymar stood up and made it count as he slammed an accurate pass with an overhead kick to score the winner.

Neymar made his return from injury with a match against Colombia for Brazil where he was involved in both of his country’s goals. With his performance tonight, he has shown why he is considered the 3rd best player in the world; only behind Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The fans may subject him to abuse for quite some time this season. However, if he continues to perform like this, it won’t take long for the boos to turn to cheers.
