WATCH: Sam Harper and Nathan Ellis involved in frightful collision in Renegades vs Hurricanes match

Sam Harper and Nathan Ellis involved in frightful collision: The two cricketers were involved in an unfortunate and dangerous collision.

During the 46th match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes in Melbourne, Melbourne Renegades wicket-keeper batsman Sam Harper and Hobart Hurricanes pacer Nathan Ellis were involved in a frightful collision.

It all happened on the fourth delivery of the fourth over when Harper played an Ellis delivery towards mid-off and hurried on for a single.

The batsman’s attempt to make his crease and the bowler’s attempt to collect the ball saw them colliding in a dangerous manner. The action sequence saw Harper flying over the top of Ellis but a nasty landing ended up causing him significant trouble.

Having given the impression of landing on his neck with his helmet put on, Harper immediately asked for medical attention. Not giving affirmative signs via his body language after getting hurt, the 23-year old player eventually retired hurt due to concussion.

It is worth mentioning that Renegades have called in batsman Tom Cooper as Harper’s concussion substitute for this match.

Chasing a 191-run target, Renegades have a mountainous task in front of them especially after the dismissal of veteran batsman Shaun Marsh (56).

After Melbourne captain Daniel Christian won the toss and invited the opposition in to bat, Hobart posted 190/3 in their allotted quota of 20 overs on the back of individual half-centuries from their opening batsman in Matthew Wade (66) and Macalister Wright (70*).
