After India dominated the third day’s play in Dharamsala, Smith must have been immensely disappointed with his side’s display that has virtually handed India the Test match and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
There was another flashpoint in the day’s play when Smith’s frustrations were caught on live TV.
Hazlewood edged a delivery off Ashwin to Murali Vijay in the slips. Vijay completed the catch but replays showed that some part of the ball seemed to have touched the ground. (WATCH Steve Smith abusing Vijay and calling him a CHEAT !)
The umpire gave the benefit of the doubt to the batsman and declared it not out. Smith was clearly infuriated by Vijay and was seen calling him a “F****** Cheat !”.
After a series which has had absolutely everything, this sort of conduct from the Aussie skipper should be condemned. Smith has been at the center of other controversies as well most notably the “brain fade” incident in the Bengaluru test match.
After being dismissed LBW, Smith seemed to have asked the dressing room on whether or not he should ask for the DRS. This angered the Indian captain Virat Kohli as this was against the rule book and should not be allowed. (WATCH Steve Smith abusing Vijay and calling him a CHEAT !)

While Smith tried to downplay the incident, Kohli was still not happy as did not think that Smith was playing according to the rules of the game.
With the series almost over, Smith will probably look back at that “brain fade” as the moment when Australia lost handed the initiative to India.
