During the 33rd match of the ongoing ninth season of the Big Bash League between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat in Perth, Brisbane Heat opening batsman Tom Banton continued his golden run in the tournament by providing Heat with yet another brisk start.
Usually known for his big-hitting skills, Banton hit his first boundary in the first over itself. Chasing a 214-run target, Banton hit at least one boundary off each over in the powerplay to keep his team in contention to chase the total.
The highlight of his innings came on the first delivery of the fourth over when Banton ramped Perth Scorchers pacer Jhye Richardson over wicket-keeper Josh Inglis’ head. Apart from hitting the ball right behind the stumps, Banton also sent in a long distance into the boundary.
Having scored his seventh T20 half-century, Banton played incredibly well for his 55 (32) with the help of seven fours and two sixes before getting out in the 10th over.
After Scorchers captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and elected to bat, he scored a phenomenal half-century to propel his team to 213/4 in 20 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the seventh over, Marsh scored 93* (41) with the help of three fours and eight sixes to top-score for his team.
