Virat Kohli is a proud Indian who wears his heart on his sleeve at all times. His infectious energy and passion are two of his strongest attributes and he certainly brings them to the table when he leads India on to the field.

Which is why people were surprised when he was seen chewing gum during the National Anthem ahead of the first test match against Sri Lanka today.

The Indian skipper chewing gum as the National anthem was being played out, which was seen as an act of disrespect by many people.

It may have been the harbinger of bad luck, as Indian got off to a poor start in the first test match at the Eden Gardens.

Rahul was dismissed off the first ball with Dhawan following him soon in the dressing room.

India were 17/2 before rain came to India’s rescue!
