During the second T20I of the ongoing Sri Lanka’s tour of India at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, India batsman Shreyas Iyer hit a mountainous six off Sri Lanka spinner Wanidu Hasaranga to surprise one and all including himself.
It all happened on the last delivery of the 16th over when Iyer timed the ball to perfection to hit Hasaranga over long-on for a 101-metre long six. The ball hitting the roof of the Holkar Stadium spoke highly about the distance which the ball traveled after being hit by Iyer.
Considering the fact that Iyer didn’t use outright power to hit the ball, both him and India captain Virat Kohli looked surprised with respect to the quality of the shot. The duo exchanging smiles after the shot made it clear as far as their amazement regarding the shot was considered.

Iyer, who was promoted up the batting order at No. 3 in the 10th over, played well for his 34 (26) including three fours and a six. It was opening batsman Lokesh Rahul who top-scored for the hosts in a 143-run chase. Continuing his form, the right-hand batsman scored 45 (32) with the help of six fours.
After Kohli won the toss and invited the visitors in to bat, Sri Lanka posted a below par 142/9 in 20 overs. With bowling figures of 4-0-23-3, India pacer Shardul Thakur was the pick of their bowlers.
