WATCH: Virat Kohli wholeheartedly celebrates Ishant Sharma's maiden Test half-century in Antigua

Virat Kohli wholeheartedly celebrates: The Indian captain seemed to enjoy the fast bowler’s batting milestone in Antigua.

During the second day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of West Indies in Antigua, India captain Virat Kohli didn’t shy away from celebrating fast bowler Ishant Sharma’s maiden Test half-century. In what was a wholehearted effort, Kohli appeared rejoiced to watch his Sharma contribute with the bat.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 136th over when Sharma swept a Rahkeem Cornwall delivery on the leg-side to cross the 50-run mark. Just as Sharma was acknowledging the crowd’s applause, the whole Indian dugout was seen on its feet.

Coming in to bat at No. 9 in the 111th over, Sharma stitched a 112-run stand for the eighth wicket alongside Hanuma Vihari (111). While the former was expected to play a second fiddle, it wasn’t the case as it was him who started the acceleration process.

Virat Kohli gives batting tips to Ishant Sharma

A video which is doing the rounds is of Kohli hilariously giving batting tips to Sharma before he went out to bat. The Indian skipper is seen suggesting some batting techniques to Sharma.

Right from starting to hit boundaries to making sure that runs keep coming when Vihari was stuck in the 80s, Sharma batted with both maturity and responsibility. Sharma, who has been constantly valuing his wicket in the recent years, managed to go past his previous career-best score of 31. Before getting out in the 139th over, Sharma scored 57 (80) with the help of seven fours.

It was Vihari and Sharma’s equal effort which saw India scoring 416/10 in 140.1 overs. With bowling figures of 32.1-9-77-5, West Indies captain Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.
