What Vincent Kompany told Salah

What Vincent Kompany told Salah: Manchester City reduced the gap with Liverpool to four points with the win at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City emerged 2-1 winners against Liverpool in the heavyweight clash between the two sides at Etihad Stadium.

Sergio Aguero opened the goalscoring for Manchester City in the 40th minute of the game, but Roberto Firmino pulled the scoreline level in the second half.

However, a late winner from Leroy Sane secured three points for Manchester City. Their win has blown the title race open again, as City now stands only four points behind Klopp’s Liverpool.

There were a fair share of controversies in the game, including a disallowed Liverpool goal in the early minutes. Later, City’s Vincent Kompany was booked for a two-footed tackle on Mohamed Salah, denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

While various fans, pundits and even Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expressed their disbelief at the Man City’s defender not getting a red card, a video has now emerged where Kompany is seen saying something to Salah.

What Kompany told Salah:

Vincent Kompany was given a yellow card for his tackle on Mohamed Salah during the game at Anfield.

In a video which surfaced on social media after the game, fans have worked out what Kompany told Salah after the tackle.

Jurgen Klopp was critical of referee’s decision to not send Kompany off the pitch for the tackle.

“I really like Vincent Kompany but how on earth is that not a red card?” Klopp said. “He is last man and he goes in. If he hits Mo [Salah] more, he is out for the season. It is not easy for the ref and he may not see it how I see it.

I like him, he’s a fantastic and outstanding player. I loved Kompany at Hamburg – what a career, but situations like this happen.

“A player makes a decision and makes a sliding tackle. He took the risk, Mo is on his feet and, if he is not in the moment where he jumps over him, then we all talk differently. Still a nice guy but a really bad decision [from the referee, Anthony Taylor].”

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the tackle:
