Having launched their away jersey for just a single match versus England, Team India will also be a part of a very noble ‘One day for children’ cause initiated by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
It is worth mentioning that, the ICC in partnership with one of the important organs of the United Nations- United Nations Children’s fund (UNICEF) had announced ‘One Day for Children’, bringing together cricket’s one billion fans to help build a better world for every child.
#OneDay4Children, will use the power and reach of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 to help children learn play and be healthy. The money raised will support UNICEF’s work for children in cricket playing nations across the world.
Young fan takes charge as the Pre- match conference manager
In lieu of the aforementioned noble initiative, Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s pre-match press conference was taken over by a young media manager around the age of 10-12. As part of the formality, even the first question for Kohli was asked by a young girl posing as a journalist.
The girl (named Neha) asked, “Are you and the Indian Cricket Team excited for tomorrow’s match?”. The skipper, after genuinely and patiently listening to the question replied, “Yes Neha, thank you for the lovely question. Yes, we are very excited. It’s a very special occasion. First time that it’s been done, and we are proud that we are part of such a special game, and I hope all of you are excited as well.”
There will be #OneDay4Children activity throughout all 48 matches of the event, peaking with a day of celebration during the England v India game on 30 June at Edgbaston.
