“We are extremely disappointed”: Tottenham Issue Strongly Worded Message After Reguilon, Lamela And Giovanni Found Flouting COVID Norms: The club also revealed that two players had tested positive for the disease
Given the manner in which Coronavirus is wreaking havoc in the Premier League at the moment, the last thing needed is for players to indulge in unnecessary shenanigans. Breaching bio-bubbles, violating the protocols in place and paying no need to the guidelines in place to fight the disease as lead to a calamitous outbreak of the pandemic in the marquee league.
A lax approach from the players and clubs has lead to a slew of matches being called off with Fulham and Burnley’s encounter becoming the latest causality. In addition to the latest development, Tottenham’s Giovanni Lo Celso and Erik Lamela have both taken ill to the disease as well.
Confirming the news ahead of their outing against Leeds United, the club was also quick to lament the behaviour of its players. Pictures had surfaced showing Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso, Erik Lamela and Manuel Lanzini all partaking in a Christmas party.
The gathering was a blatant disregard of the COVID norms ingrained in place by the UK government. Also, with all being in tier 4 London which has been ravaged by a new strain of the disease, the players’ decision to flout the protocols has received massive backlash.

Despite being without both Giovanni and Lamela, Tottenham were largely unperturbed on the day. A clinical and comprehensive performance saw the side wrap up an overwhelming 3-0 win despite losing defender Matt Doherty to a red card at the tailend of the affair.
