Giovani Lo Celso prefers a move to Tottenham Hotspur over Manchester United because of one key reason.
Giovani Lo Celso has given green light to Tottenham Hotspur over Manchester United for a potential transfer. The Argentinian has been one of the stand out players in the Spanish top division over the last two seasons – proving his talent with Quique Setien’s Real Betis.
The 23-year-old midfielder made a permanent move to Real Betis from PSG for £19.5 million last summer. He impressed several scouts and attracted interest from a host of clubs including Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
A British publication cited that Real Betis are resigned to lose him in the summer transfer window. The Spanish club were aware of the genuine interest on the player from Manchester United, but the board learned that the deal was driven out by his agent and father.
Albeit that interest, the player is hesitant about the prospect of working at Old Trafford currently. Spurs submitted an unsuccessful £53 million bid for the Argentine International – which was deemed not good enough by Betis.
Learning the interest from the Red Devils, Real Betis are solely focussing on a bidding war for their midfielder. Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is applying pressure on the board to sanction a deal for the 23-year-old.
The former PSG midfielder has held informal talks with Mauricio Pochettino and Real Betis fitness coach Marcos Alvarez – who worked as fitness coach under Juande Ramos – has recommended the Champions League runners-up.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping for an upgrade in the midfielder – especially after the departure of Ander Herrera. The midfielder with Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Paul Pogba have been untidy, to say the least.
At the other side, Moussa Sissoko was the only standout midfielder for Spurs last season. Pochettino has already started his work by searching for Christian Eriksen’s replacement. The Danish International confirmed that he be open to offers from aboard.
Atletico Madrid have also had an eye on the midfielder, but they are not prepared to meet Real Betis’ demands.
Here’s how Twitter has reacted..
The player is keen to join the Champions League runners-up but the clubs are apart in their valuation of the Argentinian midfielder.
