West Ham sign Lucas Perez

West Ham have been one of the Premier League’s busiest clubs in this summer. The West Londoners have made a number of signings and are still pushing to get done with the business until the transfer window slams shut in 72 hours.

The Hammers are in the market on the search of a forward player. Manuel Pellegrini’s side was initially behind Yacine Brahimi from Porto. However, they pulled the plug after failing to agree personal terms.

The London Stadium outfit has now turned its attention towards Arsenal’s forgotten man Lucas Perez and have reportedly signed him for a meagre fee of £4 million.

The Spaniard signed for the Gunners for £17.1 million in 2016 but had a season on the bench. In 2017/18, he was loaned to his home club Deportivo La Coruna. In the La Liga, he scored eight goals over thirty five appearances during his loan before returning back to the north Londoners. Arsenal’s squad to the international Champions Cup in Singapore, Stockholm and Dublin did include Lucas Perez, but the versatile attacker was used sparingly.

The 29 year old thought he had a future under Unai Emery but is now looking for new pastures. Despite the former Paris Saint-Germain’s boss interest in him during his time in France, Emery seems to not have included Perez in his plans for 2018/19. He already has Aubameyang and Lacazette apart from other big names ahead of Lucas Perez in the pecking order.

The Gunners have been extremely busy in this season’s transfer window. They got in five signings in the shapes of Bernd Leno, Sokratis, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Mateo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira.

Emery has already stated that a sixth cannot be ruled out with the likes of Steven N’Zonzi, Ousmane Dembele and Ricardo Rodriguez heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are also expected to get rid of the dead weight that will not constitute a part of Emery’s plans for the new season.
