Why does Sykkuno cover his mouth when he laughs? Among Us star

Why does Sykkuno cover his mouth when he laughs? Fans all over the Internet want to know the reason behind the Among Us star’s weird habit.

The reason behind this question actually has causes buried deep in Sykkuno’s being. And no, we don’t mean that in some philosophic, Zen Buddhist way but with regards to his general nature & persona. In fact, the hints have been out there since day 1. So, in case you haven’t picked up on them, here they are.

Why does Sykkuno cover his mouth when he laughs?

First of all, there are quite a few articles on the Internet that connect Sykkuno’s act of covering his smile to some ancient Chinese tradition. We assure you that such is not the case. Yes, Sykkuno is of Chinese & Vietnamese descent. But, just like Pokimane, Disguised Toast or Lilypichu, he has been in North America ever since he was a kid. So, he’s very much a part of this culture.

Furthermore, Sykkuno himself confessed to the real reason behind it on stream. Like many of us, he was often teased about his teeth as a kid. So, he used to cover them out of insecurity. And now, though nobody teases him anymore, the habit has stuck with him ever since.

Hints toward a deeper issue.

Is that it, then? Is that all the mystery there is behind the question? …mmm, not quite. You see, a few days ago a series of events unfolded in Sykkuno’s life. We don’t quite know what they were but some of their effects also reverberated to his streams. In fact, in a stream, he was brought to tears by a seemingly trivial prank on the part of Toast & Valkyrae. Sykkuno later on, confessed that he was

“dealing with some personal issues right now”.

A few days later the Among Us sensation was lost and out of his depth again, this time in an AOC Among Us Lobby. He even confessed that he was failing to relate to anything that was going on & kept silent for long periods.

“I’m just so lost in this lobby. I feel like I’m playing a different game here. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I feel very lost”.

“I thought this was a video game.”

“I’m so confused”.

The real reason & Sykkuno’s persona.

Herein lie subtle hints behind why Sykkuno covers his mouth when he laughs. As pleasing & positive a Persona as he has, Sykkuno is an introvert and it’s no secret. It’s the reason he refuses to host Among Us lobbies & Valkyrae has to force him. Introverts usually suffer from a lack of confidence in any highly social surrounding. And every Among Us lobby is basically a highly social affair. So, there you have your answer.

Sykkuno has trouble expressing himself as extravagantly as say, a Disguised Toast or a Valkyrae would do. He’s more like Corpse Husband that way. Hence, he stays calm & speaks in a soft undertone. It’s also why he laughs with his face covered. His act is one of habit, but the psychological stimulus is that of introversion.

So, that’s it. Now you know why does Sykkuno cover his mouth when he laughs. Both, the long & short of it. However, it goes without saying that Sykkuno is a wonderful person. And to see what makes him so unique & makes us want to watch him, read up this piece by a Redditor about “The Sykkuno Effect”.
