Why Jesse Lingard's comments were banned by Manchester United

Here is why Jesse Lingard’s comments were banned by Manchester United.

Manchester United are fighting to finish in the top four, but their destiny does not live in their hands. They need their top four chasers to drop points which is becoming a conundrum for the Red Devils. It will not only affect the club financially, but the recruitment team have a huge say if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

In a recent interview, Manchester United’s attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard spoke about the necessity of Champions League football. Besides, he spoke about the attracting of the Red Devils which is becoming lesser day by day after struggling to establish themselves over the last few years.

If Manchester United fail to qualify for the European Elite league, they will not be able to sign the calibre of players required. This is the main reason for the club to censor Jesse Lingard’s recent interview.

Solskjaer has accepted that his side would not be able to qualify for the Champions League after shambolic performances. Despite the absence of that competition, the Norwegian is confident about signing quality players.

“In the long term planning we have to think about being in the Champions League next year because we’ve got a chance,” Solskjaer said. “We might not be but you’d be surprised how many players’ agents have been touting their players … telling us that their players would love to be a part of Man United in the future.

“Yes, we’re having a tough time at the moment. We’ve had a few seasons that we’ve not got up to the standards we expect but it’s up to me and the club to change it as quickly as possible.

“If it’s a season without the Champions League, who knows, but players still want to come to Man United. You probably wouldn’t be surprised but you would be surprised by the names that you get asked.”
