Will Lionel Messi play vs Valencia: Will the Barcelona Ace feature in their upcoming La Liga encounter against Los Ches this weekend?

Barcelona are set to resume their La Liga campaign this weekend. They will take on a tough Valencia side. The Bluagrana have not had the best of starts to their campaign, having picked up only 4 points out of a possible 9 so far.

Barcelona lost their opening match 1-0 to Athletic Club. They also lost Ousmane Dembele and Luis Suarez to injuries in that match. They then thrashed Real Betis 5-2 to calm flaring nerves. However, 2-2 draw against the newly promoted Osasuna has brought to light new concerns and has made the match against Valencia a very crucial fixture for the team.

Will Lionel Messi play vs Valencia?

It is not going to be easy at all for Ernesto Valverde as he will be missing two crucial players for the weekend fixture. According to reports from Spanish Media, the Catalonian side will miss the services of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

Messi, particularly, has been ruled out with no possibility to be ready for the match. His injury was earlier reported to be a minor strain. However, Messi’s inability to train without discomfort has led to a renewed estimation of his return date.

Even if Messi does get fit in time, his lack of full match fitness and rhythm will play against him. The Barcelona and Argentina skipper is yet to play a match since his disastrous Copa America campaign.

Luis Suarez on the other hand is yet to be completely ruled out. It is very likely though that he won’t make it in time.
