During the press conference before the Sri Lanka test match, Virat Kohli mentioned that he was not a machine and hence required to take some rest at some point.

It seems like the BCCI heard him as they rested the Indian skipper for the upcoming ODI series due to start in a few days time, with Rohit Sharma leading the team in his place.

But now our attention turns to the T20 series that will follow the ODIs. Will Kohli be rested for that series as well, or will he captain his side in the shortest format before leaving for South Africa?

It’s being reported that Kohli may return to the T20 setup, but is it the correct decision?

For someone who plays in all formats of the game, Kohli has played in a lot of matches over the last few years. Ever since 2012, Kohli has played over 200 matches for India, making him the most used player by the Indian side in that time period.

With the much anticipated South African tour coming up on the horizon, Kohli will need to be at his absolute best in that tour. Therefore it is mandatory that the BCCI rest Kohli for the T20 series.

But there are conflicting reports that say that Virat wants to play the T20 series against Sri Lanka. While no one doubts the passion that Kohli has for representing his country, one must think with a cool head and see that an extended rest is probably the best thing for Virat Kohli.
