Euro 2016 has been an exciting competition so far with a majority of matches decided in the last 10 minutes. With the group stage done and dusted, we move on to the knockout phase which should ensure the excitement level goes up a couple of notches ! Here are the Worst of Euro 2016 Top 6 biggest disappointments players so far.

6. Thomas Muller

Germany vs Northern Ireland

We have grown accustomed to Thomas Muller scoring goals. And particularly in major tournaments. So when you see that Muller has not yet opened his account in Euro 2016, you wonder what the problem is. With Mario Gotze misfiring and Mario Gomez not particularly convincing, Germany are going to need Muller to start producing the goals.

5. Robert Lewandowski

Lewandowski could decide the fate of Poland vs Ukraine

It is tough to be the sole superstar and your country’s biggest hope heading into a major tournament, but when you are a player of Robert Lewandowski’s caliber you expect to be doing much better than what he has done so far. No goals for one of the best strikers of his generation is a massive disappointment and he will be hoping to change things heading in to the knockout rounds of the Euro 2016.

4. Antoinne Griezmann

He was Atletico Madrid’s star man heading into the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Milan. But ever since Anotinne Griezmann missed that penalty in Milan, he has not looked the same. He put in an abject performance against Romania in France’s first match. People hoped his decisive header against Albania would kick start his Euro 2016 campaign but another abject performance against the Swiss have raised the doubts surrounding him again. France need Griezmann to wake up and quickly !

3. Paul Pogba

Heading into the Euros Paul Pogba was ready to stake his claim as the best midfielder in the world. But his performances in the Euro 2016 have been disappointing to say the least. The one thing positive for France is that his performances have been slowly improving match by match which should give them reason to hope that Pogba would find his best form sooner rather than later.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

Portugal have scrapped into the last 16 all thanks to the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo. That being said he had two immensely frustrating performances prior to his starring role against a gutsy Hungary. This is all likelihood Ronaldo’s last chance at glory with the national team, and for Portugal’s sake they need they talisman to drag them through to the later rounds of Euro 2016.

1. Eden Hazard

What a difference a year makes ! Last year this time, Jose Mourinho believed Eden Hazard was as good as Cristiano Ronaldo. After a ridiculously poor campaign with Chelsea, Hazard has not improved much in leading Belgium’s supposed charge for the Euros. He has looked busy but the cutting edge is lacking and Belgium will need their skipper to find his edge and quickly !
