CM Punk Chris Jericho

CM Punk was supposed to be the megastar that would help AEW break into the mainstream. And that seemed to be the case early on in his return. However, matters have since gotten out of hand following his infamous gripebomb promo at the media scrum post All-Out last year. Rumors have since suggested that the best in the world could soon be on his way back to the promotion. However, it doesn’t appear to be welcomed to the locker room by Chris Jericho.

Jericho, who also lays claim to the best in the world moniker, is rumored to be a part of a meeting with AEW president Tony Khan and Punk to help the two co-exist. Although, if his latest tweets are anything to go by, a program between the two seems to be far from possible at the moment.

Chris Jericho hints at unwillingness to work with CM Punk ahead of his rumored AEW return

An AEW fan recently tagged Chris Jericho in a tweet, suggesting that the former AEW World Champion would agree to work with everyone as long as it was best for business. He wrote:

“Chris Jericho, correct me if I am wrong but you’ve always been willing to work with everyone and you always do what’s best for business. People are foolish to suggest otherwise.”

Jericho replied saying “Not everyone,” making his intentions very clear. And if that wasn’t enough, he then responded to a screenshot of his previous tweet saying:

“I don’t play games guys….”

Chris Jericho reportedly called CM Punk a cancer to the promotion after Punk’s rant at the All Out Media scrum.

Recently, Punk posted a since deleted rant on Instagram, where he called Jericho a liar and a stooge.

Why did CM Punk call Jericho a liar?

The aforementioned rant was in response to a report by Dave Meltzer claiming that Punk did not want to lose the AEW World Championship to Moxley. Meltzer claimed that while Punk agreed to the squash, he later sent a legal letter stating his refusal.

He added that Punk finally agreed to drop the title in a squash match only after Tony Khan put his foot down.

Punk took to his Instagram to give his side of the story.

He claimed that the reason why he refused to fight Moxley earlier was because he wasn’t cleared to wrestle at the time. Punk also revealed that Moxley threatened not to lose to him at All Out if he did not drop the title to him before the PPV.

He then asked Tony Khan if that was what he wanted and when the boss confirmed that was indeed what he wanted, they went ahead with the plan but only after he was medically cleared to wrestle.

“My health is more important. Dave Meltzer is a liar. [Chris] Jericho is a liar and a stooge. There were plans but plans always change but I’ll never put a company above my health ever again,” Punk wrote.

Reports have since emerged that Punk is willing to return to AEW and wrestling in general. Although it remains to be seen if the rest of the AEW locker room is as willing to see him back.
