Dave Batista Guardians of the Galaxy

Dave Batista is one of those few WWE superstars who have had a significant career in Hollywood. However, it wasn’t until he was cast to play a superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In 2014, Batista was roped in for the role of Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie series. The trilogy has finally come to an end, with its last installment getting released earlier this week.

However, despite playing a superhero for around 10 years and featuring in 7 MCU movies, the WWE legend was worried about his legacy as an actor. Speaking to GQ Magazine earlier this year, Batista shed light on his journey of portraying the comic book character.

Dave Batista was relieved knowing that his role as Drax would end after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

During the conversation, Dave Batista opened up about his time as Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. The WWE legend expressed how grateful he was for being the live-action version of the comic book character. He admitted that he loved playing Drax over the years on the big screen.

However, at the same time, Batista was relieved knowing his journey as Drax will end after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The former 6-time WWE world champion noted that the process wasn’t all pleasant. Playing the role was hard, which was made harder by the makeup procedure.

He further noted that it was a silly performance, and he wishes to do more dramatic roles. Besides, Batisa wasn’t sure if he wanted his legacy to be just Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy. So, when the character’s journey came to an end, he saw that as a relief.

“I’m so grateful for Drax, I love him, but there’s a relief that it’s over… It wasn’t all pleasant, It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy…”

The Guardians of the Galaxy star recently said goodbye to his character through a heartfelt social media post

Well, playing Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy proved to be a career boost for Batista in Hollywood. The role led to the former six-time WWE world champion getting more big-budget projects. In fact, after that, he has been a part of many box office successes.

Recently, after the release of the third and final part of Guardians of the Galaxy, Batista took to Twitter to bid goodbye to Drax. Through an emotional post, the WWE legend appreciated fans for letting him play the iconic character.
