Ric Flair had backstage heat for his comments on former Universal Champion. The WWE Hall of Famer was recently released from the promotion.

Ric Flair once got in trouble for his comments on Finn Balor. The WWE Hall of Famer stated that the former Universal Champion would never headline Wrestlemania due to his size.  According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Flair got a lot of heat for saying that.

Meltzer stated that Flair was very careful about what he had to say while he was in WWE. He would make sure not to make any comments against the company to protect his daughter’s career. In fact, he even stopped his podcast because he got a lot of heat for the comments he made on it.

”Flair actually gave up his podcast because he got so much heat from WWE , from anything the slightest bit critical he said, including once saying he didn’t think Finn Balor would ever main event WrestleMania because of his size, and in hindsight, history has shown thus far that Balor hasn’t main evented WrestleMania and it’s very unlikely he ever will.”

Flair is no longer part of the WWE. According to various reports, the Nature Boy asked for his release and was granted it last week. It has been speculated that the reason for his departure was his creative differences with Vince McMahon over his daughter Charlotte Flair.

As far as Finn Balor goes, the Prince was the innaugral Universal Champion. However, he saw himself drop to the mid card later on. After floundering on the main roster for a while, he went back to NXT where he had a resurgence in his career.

He is back on the main roster once again. It will be interesting to see if things turn out differently this time and if he ever main events Wrestlemania before calling time on his career.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
