Backstage details on why Braun Strowman was released from WWE. The monster among men was recently let go by the company.

The WWE have released several wrestlers since Wrestlemania. None however, have been as shocking as Braun Strowman. The former Universal Champion was recently let go by the WWE and his salary has been mentioned as the likeliest reason why.

According to Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Strowman was on a $1.2 Million guaranteed deal. However, he made the mistake of not getting a no-cut contract. In the end, with the WWE acquiring several other giants on their roster, the company saw him as surplus to requirements and released him.

Backstage details on why Braun Strowman was released from WWE

”With Strowman (Adam Scherr, 37), who was on a $1.2 million guaranteed deal and had just a few weeks back denigrated all non-WWE wrestling and said he would never work anywhere else, the decision was made because of the feeling he was two years past his peak and he had become obsolete as the roster giant because of Omos on Raw, Commander Azeez on Smackdown, and perhaps Shanky on Raw, being on the main roster who were so much bigger than he is.”

”His salary worked against him and one person noted he made a huge mistake in negotiations because when he signed his new deal, he was considered a hot commodity and if he pushed for it, probably could have gotten a no-cut contract that a few of the bigger names have. But he didn’t push for it and he probably never imagined they’d decide to cut him after signing him to such a strong long-term deal.”

It will be interesting to see what lies in the future for Strowman. He could make a return to Strongman competitons or even participate in body building contests. However, fans will be more interested to see if he turns up for another wrestling promotion or will he re-sign with the WWE on a lower contract.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
