The former WWE champion did not wish to expose his family to the pandemic; especially when his wife was expecting twins.

Reigns revealed that he has been training during his time off and appears to be keen to make a return to the squared circle soon.

Braun Strowman filled in for him and defeated Goldberg at Wrestlemania to become the new Universal Champion. However, Reigns insists that he is still the WWE’s biggest star. He expressed his desire to compete for the Universal Championship again; even if he had to do so in an empty stadium, a predicament he termed as a concern.

Roman Reigns talks WWE return

“I’m ready to smash people if you know what I mean,” Reigns told The Hindu MetroPlus.  “I’ve been training my butt off during this pandemic.

“As far as performing in front of an empty arena is concerned, it is tough and I really commend all the guys and girls who are doing it.

“Everything that I have ever learned was in order to get a reaction and to interact with our fans… so that is the hardest part.

“But when it comes down to it, I am gonna get in there and compete at the highest level… hopefully for a title. More specifically, the Universal Championship.

“If not, I will be there to prove that I’m not just the top of the mountain, but I am the mountain. I am [WWE’s] biggest star, regardless of if I am on the show or not… so I have everything to prove and everything to lose as well.”

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
