Jon Moxley asked if he would ever return to WWE

Jon Moxley asked if he would ever return to WWE. The former WWE Grand Slam Champion moved to AEW back in 2019.

Jon Moxley earned his name and fame in the WWE as Dean Ambrose. He made his debut with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins as part of the Shield. All three members would eventually go on to become WWE Champions. Unlike Rollins and Reigns however, it was evident that the WWE did not have a clear plan for Ambrose.

Ambrose would eventually run his contract down and left the WWE. Surprisingly, the WWE announced his departure and treated it with much respect. This caused a lot of people to think that this was a work. To the astonishment of both the fans and WWE, Ambrose would then appear on AEW as Jon Moxley.

Jon Moxley asked if he would ever return to WWE

Moxley has had a more than successful stint at AEW. He was their World Champion for much of last year and steered them through the choppy waters during the early days of the pandemic.

He is still part of their main event and continues to look like a top player for them. However, he refused to rule out a return to the WWE if the opportunity ever arises. Although, he doubts they would ever be on the same page.

“You gotta say never say never, because you don’t want to run back what you said years later because you don’t know what’ll happen,” Moxley said during a B/R AMA session. “Just the creation of AEW was so vital to the wrestling industry, and that’s part of the reason why I’m so proud to be a part of it. I wouldn’t rule out ever doing business with them again, we had a mutually beneficial relationship for a long time.”

“If they called, I would listen, but I highly doubt we would ever be on the same page,” Moxley continued. “I’d be open to an idea. I don’t not like money. I got a kid on the way and gotta put it through college so ya know. I would take a phone call, but I highly doubt anything would materialize.”

This is a fairly diplomatic answer from Moxley. He isn’t promising anything while not closing the book entirely on it. For the Shield fans out there however, this is perhaps the greatest news for them knowing that a reunion is not entirely out of the realms of possibility.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
