JR reveals Vince McMahon’s reaction to top star no-showing WWE RAW

JR reveals Vince McMahon’s reaction to top star no-showing WWE RAW. The WWE Chairman had an unusual approach to the future Hall of Famer not showing up for work.

Vince McMahon booked Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels as the main event for the infamous 1997 Survivor Series. Hart, who was the WWE (then WWF) Champion, was convinced that he was walking out the victor. However, Vince had already planned to get the title on Shawn  Michaels waist and screwed Hart of the championship.

While Vince was convinced he had done the right thing, (he feared Hart showing up on WCW with the titlt), there were several others who did not agree with the treatment meted to Hart on his way out. JR reveals Vince McMahon’s reaction to top star no-showing WWE RAW

JR spoke on  his Grilling JR podcast about Vince McMahon’s unusual reaction to Foley’s decision to stay away from RAW following the infamous Montreal Screwjob.

“Vince had no issues with it whatsoever.  Vince said, ‘If others want to go, JR, there’s no harm, no foul. If they want to go home and sort through this stuff, whatever, let them. We’ll have TV with whomever’s here. We can make that happen.’ Because Vince had the most powerful weapon in all of pro wrestling: the old eraser. Somebody goes up, somebody goes out, they’re not available, put somebody else in the game.”

Mick Foley only missed one episode of RAW and eventually returned to the promotion. Vince ultimately decided against punishing him and welcomed him back with open arms and no consequences.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
