Drew McIntyre takes a dig at AEW’s botched ending to Revolution. The former WWE Champion seemed to reference the dud explosions on RAW tonight.

AEW recently hosted Revolution, their first PPV of 2021. The event promised a lot, and while brilliant from start to finish, some would say it under delivered in the aspects that fans were looking forward to the most, such as the mystery signing and the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.

As amazing as Christian is, the fans were discussing Brock Lesnar, John Cena and CM Punk. The former World Heavyweight Champion is on par and even better than some of the names discussed but pales in comparison when it comes to star power.

The Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch was the talking point of the pay per view. The match was heading towards a finish that would see the ring explode. Unfortunately, the end result saw sparks flying instead. It left a lot to be desired. AEW received a lot of flak for the lackluster finish.

To their credit, they handled the situation well in the aftermath and weaved it into their storylines with smart writing but that hasn’t prevented them from being the butt of jokes.

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre seemingly referenced the botched finish on tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW. While speaking with MVP, he talked about making promises to fans and not delivering on them before adding that it led to ‘sparks flying’.

“I noticed that MVP made some guarantees tonight. That’s such a dangerous thing to do in this industry. If you make a guarantee and don’t deliver, fans get upset and sparks fly.”


AEW is notorious for taking shots at the WWE. This week it was WWE’s turn. It may or may have not been intentional. The phrasing however, suggests that it was.
