“I’m done. I’m not there anymore” – The Undertaker wanted to retire back in 2019 after his tag team match at Extreme Rules.

The Undertaker is one of the most iconic character in the WWE universe. He has entertained the fans for close to 3 decades. Like all things though, his time also has to come to an end. The latest instalment of the Last Ride however, gives us a peek at how hard it has been for both the Undertaker and the WWE to call time on the character.

After arguably his worst match of his career at the Super Showdown against Goldberg, The Undertaker came back for a match against Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre alongside Roman Reigns. The Undertaker gave in a much-improved performance and then expressed his desire to retire to Vince McMahon after the match.

The Undertaker approached Vince after the match and had a heartfelt discussion over his future. Vince however, told the deadman that he looked good in the match and had excellent timing. The Undertaker responded that he wasn’t feeling it and McMahon assured him that he would follow his lead.

Undertaker: I’m done. I’m not there anymore.

McMahon: Alright. We can talk about it.

Undertaker: It’s not there.

McMahon: Didn’t seem that way tonight. The timing was there. Everything was right there.

Undertaker: I know. My body’s not, though.

McMahon: Most important is this. [Unclear what McMahon is pointing to]

Undertaker: Well, it’s my body and my long term.

McMahon: Okay

Undertaker: I’m gonna go, get out and think, but I just didn’t want to spring that on you, I mean I’m springing it on you now, but I need to evaluate.

McMahon: Mark, I will follow your lead.

The Undertaker didn’t not retire after this match and in fact went on to have one of his most entertaining matches this Wrestlemania with AJ Styles. However, this gives an interesting insight into how hard it has been for both the WWE and the Undertaker himself to let go.

How often have the fans been told that the Undertaker is done. Perhaps even the WWE and the The Undertaker themselves believe it too. However, whenever he is required both the WWE and the Undertaker find themselves back together again.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
