Roman Reigns Cody Rhodes WrestleMania 40

WWE is seemingly looking to pit Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes in a rematch next year at WrestleMania 40. According to a new report, the match is being discussed internally as the main event of WrestleMania 40. Since Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns are on separate brands, Rhodes is going to have to work his way to the top over the course of this year. Of course, WrestleMania 40 is far away and a lot could change.

Cody Rhodes is scheduled to compete against arguably the toughest challenge of his career, Brock Lesnar, at Backlash.

The American Nightmare was sneak-attacked by the Beast Incarnate in the main event of Raw after WrestleMania 39. Considering that Roman Reigns has beaten Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes’ mettle will be put to the test at Backlash.

Roman Reigns Vs Cody Rhodes II is reportedly “on the table” for WrestleMania 40

Ever since Triple H assumed control of the Creative, he has proven to be far-seeing with his Creative direction. WrestleVotes reports via GiveMeSport that Roman Reigns Vs Cody Rhodes II is much more likely to materialize at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia next year.

The details about the finish of the match are unknown, but the match is “on the table”.

In addition, the match is reportedly going to be the main event of the evening.

The report read-

“I can say this. The rematch that’s at the forefront of everybody’s minds, Cody vs Roman, is very much on the table to main event in Philadelphia next year.”

WWE’s first two picks of the Draft, 2023 are a clear indication that Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes will stay out of each other’s ways for months. Cody and Roman are remaining on Raw and SmackDown respectively.

While the rematch is already heavily hyped, it remains to be seen how the story develops over the months leading to WrestleMania 40.

Judging by the report, it looks like WWE is strategically moving the duo away, only to bring them full circle at WrestleMania 40.

When will Roman Reigns wrestle next?

While fans initially thought Cody Rhodes would have his rematch at Backlash, Brock Lesnar caused havoc and started a feud with Cody Rhodes. Rhodes and Lesnar are set to main event Backlash. But Roman Reigns is not scheduled to compete at WWE’s upcoming Premium Live Event, Backlash, in Puerto Rico.

The Tribal Chief is going to wrestle his next match at Night of Champions in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Interestingly, Roman Reigns will also complete his 1000 days as the Universal Champion. At this point, Roman Reigns’ opponent for Night of Champions is unknown. It remains to be seen what plans Triple H has up his sleeve.
