Kurt Angle reveals he wanted to rejoin WWE in 2014 but Vince McMahon refused. The Olympic Gold Medalist was working with TNA at the time.

Kurt Angle began his wrestling stint with the WWE and by the end of his first run, he had already amassed a Hall of Fame worthy career. He eventually moved to TNA back in 2006 before making his return 11 years later. According to Angle however, he wanted to return a lot earlier but Vince McMahon was not interested.

On the recent edition of The Kurt Angle Show, a fan asked the Hall of Famer about his WWE return. Angle revealed that he had been looking for a way back since 2014.  However, he had to wait a few more years because Vince thought that his reputation wasn’t good at the time.

“I didn’t have the choice to jump to WWE. They weren’t ready to take me back and I had to show that I could be consistent in my recovery and I always tried to get back to WWE. By 2014 I was making attempts and Vince wasn’t interested. He just thought that my reputation at the time was not good so I had to earn his respect back by staying clean for a few more years.

“I wanted to go back earlier, even though I love TNA and loved working there and love Dixie Carter. She’s an awesome boss. She knew that I wanted to go back to WWE to finish my career and I didn’t go back there till 2017 so it took me a few years to gain back Vince’s trust.”

Angle capped off his in-ring performance with a match against Baron Corbin at Wrestlemania 35. He made a few more appearances as a special guest referee on RAW and NXT. His final appearance with the WWE was on SmackDown last year where he announced the arrival of Matt Riddle to the brand.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
