Bayley reveals she had a hard time with her heel turn early on. The Role Model has since grown into her character and is one of the top women in the WWE.
Bayley today is one of the most entertaining characters in the WWE roster. She has done an incredible job portraying an obnoxious slimy heel; a far cry from who she used to be just a couple of years back. Not many saw her pulling this off and the former SmackDown Champion has admitted that she had a hard time with it.

She had portrayed a clean cut babyface for years. Bayley was known as the Huggable One. She hugged people and high fived them! While speaking with Renee Paquette on the latest edition of Oral Sessions, she credited real life best friend Sasha Banks saying she was lucky to have her by her side because they played off of each other.
Bayley reveals she had a hard time with her heel turn early on
“I felt really lucky that I had Sasha [Banks] with me because we could just play off of each other. Everyone was like ‘Oh! it was so easy to be the bad guy and it is so much more fun’. But I had such a hard time because I was the good guy for seven years, my whole career. ‘The Huggable One’ or whatever, so for me, it was hard to make people believe that I can be a jerk.”
Bayley added that the lack of crowd helped her develop her character because she didn’t have to worry about the crowd reaction.
“If I was talking, I didn’t have to worry about people not buying into it. Or someone saying, ‘It’s not really you. I am not buying a ticket to watch you.’ So, I was just able to do me and grow that way without having to worry about people yelling stuff and hurting my feelings.”
Bayley may have taken a while to grow into her character but when she got there she owned it. Her storyline with Sasha Banks was highly appreciated by both fans and critics. She is currently without an opponent heading into Wrestlemania. However, there is still time to find her an opponent.
