On paper, McIntyre vs Goldberg is an exciting match. Many fans however, have expressed their frustration with Goldberg on social media. Former WWE Champion Stone Cold Steve Austin however, believes that there is nothing wrong with it.
He reasoned that Goldberg’s appearance helps bring eyeballs to the product; especially the lapsed viewers from the times of the Monday Night wars and if Goldberg wants to do business there was nothing stopping him from doing so.
Stone Cold reveals what he thinks of Goldberg returning to WWE
“When Bill does that, he’s putting himself in a position to do it, so as a businessman, hey, I get it. It is what it is,” Stone Cold told Booker T on the Hall of Fame podcast. “This isn’t a knock on the current roster, but he can bring some eyeballs back from when WCW was running against us in the Attitude Era. But it is what it is and it’s a business move by Bill. If Bill wants to do business, he’s going to do business.”
Eric Bischoff recently tried explaining why fans complained about Goldberg’s return in comparison to a Sting or another veteran wrestler. Despite his and the fans views however, Vince McMahon sees value in him and like Stone Cold says “If Bill wants to do business, he’s going to do business.”
Reports suggest that McIntyre will come out on top against Goldberg. However, the WCW legend is reportedly a lock for Wrestlemania. So it will be interesting to see what the WWE’s plans for him are.
