New SmackDown Tag team Champions

The main show began with new Champions being crowned in the very opening match of WWE Horror Show at Extreme Rules 2020.

The Artist Collective (Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro) beat the New Day to become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The opening match of the Horror Show at Extreme Rules 2020 exceeded all expectations with an impressive high energy bout.

The New Day seemed determine to take the fight to their challengers and charged them early on in the match. However, an ill-timed jump onto a table by Kofi after being launched off the ropes by Big E, saw the heels find a way back into the match.

Nakamura and Cesaro double teamed Big E before Kofi exploded back into the match with a shortlived comeback. The former WWE Champion was back body dropped to the floor putting him out of commission once again.

Cesaro swung Big E into the Kinshasa before Kofi made another comeback in the match. Kofi took on both opponents however, Cesaro used his momentum to catch him in a hurricanrana attempt and drove him through a stack of tables for the win and the titles.

What next for the new SmackDown Tag team Champions?

With the USO’s out injured and Miz and Morrison heels as well, it is likely that the Artist Collective will continue their feud with the New Day, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. If the WWE can spin a compelling storyline around them and the 4 continue to perform as well as they did tonight, this feud could very well do for the tag division what the New Day vs The Uso’s did a couple of years ago.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
